  • Hello,

I'm Sylvan from the Netherlands, I keep millipedes (3 Archispirostreptus gigas and 2 spirostreptus spec 1).
The gigassen sit in a terrarium of 80x40x40 and the spirostreptus in a terrarium of 35x25x25.
    They are wonderful animals!
I had a question.. I can get a terrarium 45x45x45, Flat millipedes seem to me like.
but I think that those are too small for this terrarium.
Is there a large flat millipede who can in this terrarium?
    lso very active?
Or is there another millipede who can?
I've seen a movie on Youtube of a flat millipede..
    http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=9BPck5xfBII&feature=related millipedes from Costa Rica.
    What species is this?

I hope that my English is good!

  • Hi,
A tank of 45x45cm is also good for smaller flat millipedes to create a good setup.
There are some bigger species out there in the pet trade (but not in the moment) like the species of the genus Coromus.

The one in the video looks like a member of the family Platyrhachidae, maybe of the dominating tribe Barydesmini in Costa Rica. But Platyrhachid flat millipedes are hard to keep cause many species secrete a large amount of cyanid secrete. So they poison themselves in a not well ventilated tank :S
