Polydesmids

Orodesmus mastophorus is an older name for Rhododesmus mastophorus.
This species only feeds on rotten (white) wood, small funghi in wood and leaf litter mixed under the substrate. The substrate has to be moist by regular spraying the tank and they don't like it dry. I keep them at temperatures about 22-26°C. At temperatures under 20°C they develope slower or become quite inactive. The females die a short time after laying eggs (like all Polydesmids), so don't through the substrate away after the last female is dead. The juveniles need about one year to reach maturity.
